LARGER BEQUEST SOUGHT

Parliamentary Reporter. WELLINGTON, this day. The report of a committee set up to consider the Marianne Caughey Preston Estate Bill was tabled in the House of Representatives yesterday. The principal object of the bill is to increase a bequest of £100 made under the will of Marianne Caughey Preston (formerly Mrs. Marianne Caughey Smith) to Reginald Caughey Seymour Smith, shop assistant, _of Auckland, to £15,000 and to give authority to Smith to use the name of Reginald Caughey Seymour Smith. The committee stated that it had found the allegations contained in the preamble to the bill to have been proved to its satisfaction and that it had passed the clauses of the bill with two minor amendments.

The report will be considered by the House later.
