BIG CHINESE GAIN

VITAL COASTAL AREA WON Rec. 10 a.m. CHUNGKING, Aug. 7. The High Command has announced that the Chinese have captured Yeungkong. Chinese troops yesterday penetrated Yeungkong, a highway junction near the South China Sea and 125 miles to the south-west of Canton. The Chinese have secured control of a 50-mile stretch of the invasion coast to the east of Tinpak. This stretch is now open to a virtually unopposed landing, if the Allies choose it for staging- a point for supplying the Chinese armies.
