JAPS RAID OKINAWA
CLAIM OF HEAVY DAMAGE Rec. 12.30 p.m. NEW YORK, Aug. 5. Toyko radio claims that Japanese night bombers in a pre-dawn raid on Okinawa caught American planes lined up wing to wing on two airfields at Naha and Kila. The bombers set 15 large fires raging, causing heavy damage and utter confusion. Another broadcast claimed that an Allied submarine was caught surfacing off Honshu on Saturday and was sunk.
