Dr. F. B. M. Woodhouse, of Dunedin, has been awarded an Emily Johnston research scholarship in medicine. The Hon. W. Downie Stewart has been re-appointed to the Senate of the University o.f New Zealand as a representative of the University of Otago. Mr. J. A. Gilmour, S.M., has been appointed chairman of the Railwav Appeal Board for the period from August 1 to December 31, says a Press Association message. Mr. G. Carr, who is retiring after being the City Council's main superintendent and deputy waterworks engineer since 1929, was farewelled at a gathering in the Town Hall yesterday.
