AUCKLAND MUSEUM

Parliamentary Reporter. WELLINGTON, this day. The Auckland War Memorial Museum Maintenance Amendment Bill was introduced in the House of Representatives yesterday by Mr. Richards (Govt., Roskill), on behalf of the member for Auckland East, the Hon. F. W. Schramm. The bill makes provision for the annual contribution of the contributing bodies to be increased from £5700 to £10,668. The Birkenhead, Devonport, Northcote and Takapuna Borough Councils are now entitled to appoint one representative to act for the four councils on the body controlling the Auckland Institute and Museum. Representatives of the Auckland City Council will now be elected triennially instead of annually as in the past. The bill also provides for the addition of any other local body by Order-in-Council.
