English - Speaking .Union. — In appreciation 'of his help to the Auckland branch, a cigarette lighter was presented to the president, Canon R. G. Coats, by the honorary secretary, Mrs. J. W. Hyland, on behalf of the executive at the annual meeting. Canon Coats, in his presidential address, outlined the aims and objects of the society. The following officers were elected: —Vice-presidents: Sir Ernest Davis, Mr. E. Earle Vaile, Mr. A. L. Eady, Miss E. Melville; executive: Mesdames A. Kidd, J. W. Hyland, A. B. Proud, H. N. Hewson, G. Dale, H. V. Hemus, M. Chisholm, H. D. Lylian; Misses Ella Walker and Jessica Baxter. In recognition of their services to the branch, Canon Coats and Miss A. R. Quayle were elected life vicepresidents.
