Sixteen Anglican churches in Bristol were completely destroyed and seven, including the cathedral, were severely damaged in the blitz, according to a book, "Bristol s Bombed- Churches," which was referred to by Mr. M. P. Hooper at a gathering of the Gloucester and Somerset Society. Twenty - seven other churches had suffered from blast or fire. Of the other denominations, 15 churches were destroyed and 14 damaged. Members and friends were the guests at a card evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Williams, Kitenui Avenue, Mount Albert.
