INCREASES IN AUCKLAND All-round increases are shown in the Auckland Customs returns for July. The total collected rose by £78,925, compared with the corresponding month last year. For the first seven months of 1945 the total collection has been £99,391 higher. Details for July are as follows, tliose for July, 1944, being in parentheses: Customs, £225,441 (£181,224); excise on beer, £36,372 (£32,582); sales tax, £123,310 (£116,606); War Expenses Account. £358,276 (£334,062); total, £743,399 (£664,474). The figures for the first seven months of 1945, with those for the corresponding neriod of 1944 in parentheses, are as follows: Customs, £1,500,024 (£1,498,192); excise on beer, £262,520 (£274,252); sales tax, £795,819 (£768.268): War Expenses Account. £2,381,043 (£2,299,303); total £4.393,406 (£4,540,015).
