About 20 painters and paperhangers have been released temporarily from the armed forces to expedite the completion of 600 State houses at Waddington, Upper Hutt, said the Minister of Works, Mr. Semple this afternoon. Asked whether similar action was proposed for Auckland, the Minister said that so far he had received no complaints of State houses there being held up for painters and paperhangers, but if they were he would institute,a survey immediately.
