An opinion on broadcasting parsons, expressed at the Diocesan Conference at Carlisle: "We are told to preach a gospel of great joy. Instead, the tone of these voices is enough to make people weep." The Rev. Dr. Welch, Director of Religious Broadcasts, replied: "Nine clergy out of ten are affected by the parsonic voice. It is an unfortunate fact, and it is for us to put it right."
