£10,000 MUSIC SHELL
SYDNEY COUNCII/S SCHEME O.C. SYDNEY, July 11. The Sydney City Council is seeking permission to build a music shell, with a Continental open-air cafe adjoining, in Hyde Park. The cost of the shell is estimated at £10,000, and of the cafe at £5000, The Lord Mayor, Alderman Neville Harding, and the chairman of the health and recreation committee, Alderman E. S. Marks, said they were in favour of serving light Australian wines in the cafe. Seating for 15,000 people will be provided on the lawns around the shell.
The Sydney Symphony Orchestra of 84 performers will give free, openair concerts from the shell.
