SEVERAL AT TAKAMXI Although Takanini tracks have been closed frequently of late owing to bad weather conditions, a number of rising two-year-olds there have been making excellent progress, and some of them are sure to be in the limelight when the juvenile season opens in September. Brown Velvet, by Bulandshar—Millament, is a shapely filly and has done everything asked of her in a kindly manner. She will be one of the first to race. So far, she has not been tested for speed, but has a nice action and should be capable of handling herself well. Yusuf is a bold mover when working in company, and the chestnut son of Nizami—Race Girl may be one of the first to bring credit to Nizam!. Yusuf has done well and has made no mistakes in his preparation; in fact, few others have done as well. It was thought earlier that he may take a little while to reach his peak, but his latest work has been undertaken in a manner suggesting that he is likely to show to advantage in his early racing. An attractive customer, he has no superior on the suburban track in looks and comfovmation, while his action is very smooth. It is a little difficult at this stage to estimate his early prospects, but few doubt that he will prove one of the best of his °Super Vaals is a very big and bold mover, and throws such dash into his tasks as to encourage the belief that he will go fast when allowed to extend himself. Super Vaals is one of the biggest and best-looking yearlings seen by Vaals. and it would occasion no surprise if he were to tnke a high plnce. although, in view of his late appearance, it is unlikely that he will be ready early.
