VICTORIA AVE. FIRE
An additional charge—one of arson—was brought against Ronald Dempsey Crook (33), a labourer, when he made his second appearance in the Police Court this morning since his arrest in Wellington on a charge of stealing a cine-camera valued at £30, the property of Annette May Whitten, of Auckland.
Crook to-day was charged with wilfully setting fire, on June 20, to a dwelling house at 20 Victoria Avenue, Remuera, the property of Ethel Arawa Dransfield.
"Further charges against the accused are pending," said SeniorDetective Trethewey, who asked for a remand until Monday next. "On that date we will proceed »with the evidence," he added. Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M. granted the remand.
