Lord Mayor's Pledge To Allied Commanders OBEDIENCE PROMISED Rec. 11.30 a.m. LONDON, July 25. The Lord Mayor of Berlin, Artur Werner, sent messages to the Allied occupation commanders pledging the loyalty of Berliners. "At the beginning of a new. phase it is my honour, as Lord Mayor, in the name of the city's inhabitants, to welcome you respectfully into the walls of the city. We assure you of our lasting and profound loyalty. We are pledged, through obedience to the commands and untiring work for the reconstruction of Berlin, to show ourselves ever worthy of your highest trust."
