MB. J. B. JOHNSON A retired educationist, Mr. Joseph Benjamin Johnson, of Mount Albert, has died at the age of 62. He was educated at the Auckland Grammar School, and for 41 years was a teacher under the Auckland Education Board. He was successively headmaster at the Birkdale. Panmure and Awanui schools. He retired four years ago. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters. MR. J. LYONS A prominent veterinary surgeon. Mr. Joseph Carswell Lyons has diecl at the age of 71. He was trained for his profession at Edinburgh University and was a member of the Royal College of Veterinarv Surgeons. He came to New Zealand in'l9ol. Later he was appointed diractor of live stock at Wellington, and held that position until the end of 1933, when he resigned. In the last vir he held the rank of lieutenant-colon 1, and was responsible for purchasing .'mounts for the Auckland Mounted Rifles. He was a life member of the Auckland A. and P. Association. Mr. Lyons is survived by his wife and two daughters.
