TAIERI CLOSING DOWN
STATEMENT AMPLIFIED Parliamentary Reporter. WELLINGTON, this day. "The Taieri Air Force station will be closed as a result of the reduced training programmes," said the Minister of Defence, Mr. Jones, to-day, in amplification of his statement last night. "The Taieri station has been used recently as a grading school." The Minister added that another station would also be closed in the near future, either Harewood or Woodburne. That matter was being closely examined at the present time, and an early announcement would be made as to the station decided upon. The Minister also said that the Wigram station would continue its operations.
