GALES DELAY SHIPS

Heavy east-north-east gales delayed the A. G. Frankiham freighter Coronation, which arrived at Auckland this morning. The vessel was expected to arrive from Awanui last Friday, but was forced to shelter at Cooper's Point, Spirits Bay. Heavy seas on the bar at Opotiki have delayed the Northern Company's vessel Waiotahi.

At Auckland this morning the wind reached moderate gale force at 7 o clock, when gusts of 45 miles per hour were recorded. The wind moderated soon afterwards to a light north-Westerly, later swinging to north-east without any further increase in force.
