OFF QUEENSLAND COAST
Rec. noon. BRISBANE, this day. Paddling in a rubber dinghy from a Catalina flying-boat which alighted nearby, an official of the United States War Shipping Department boarded the 7000-ton Allied merchantship which ran aground on a reef off the Queensland coast earlier in the week. The sea around the stranded vessel has become calmer and the crew is not now considered in any danger. Other ships are standing by to give assistance if necessary.
