SCHOOL WORK AFFECTED HEADMASTERS CONCERNED Concern that the closing of retail shops on Saturday mornings was resulting in parents causing their children to absent themselves in increasing numbers, particularly on Friday afternoons, in-order to make purchases of clothing and footwear was expressed in a resolution from the Auckland Headmasters' Association received at to-day's meeting of the Auckland Education Board. The association pointed out that the children's education was being seriously handicapped, and it. asked whether, in the event of the practice obtaining in other centres, some steps could be taken to improve the position.
The board decided to seek further information from the association, exteacher members pointing out that the trouble had also occurred before Saturday closing was introduced.
