BATTLE OF RANGES
Australian Victory In The Wewak Area BITTER UPHILL. FIGHTING Rec. 10.30 a.m. SYDNEY, this clay. Troops of the Sixth Australian Division have won the battle for the Prince Alexander Ranges, overlooking Wewak, in Northern New Guinea, says a statement issued by the Army Public Relations Office. The victory came after eight weeks of bitter uphill fighting over successive stair-like defences.
