Jn the first representative Rugby match o£ the season, played at Carisbrook yesterday afternoon, Otago defeated New Zealand Universities by 10 points to 9 after » hard struggle relieved by flashes of bright back play. The weather was cold and the ground heavy stfter recent rain. Seven Otago University players were included in the New Zealand Universities team and three "'tlvb '"ore"/"' half-time wa. β-all. Shannon (Otago) and Grace (Auckland) scored- for University and Haig (half) and O'Connor for Otago. 11 the second half Haig and Willock scored foi Otago, both being converted, while Haig kicked a penalty zoal.
