SNOW IN TIMARU
p.A. TIMARU, Friday. After a day of changing conditions, Timaru is to-night experiencing the first snow of the winter. Throughout the morning a strong north-west wind made conditions unpleasant and in the late afternoon the wind veered to the south-west, bringing rain, which fell solidly for some hours. Then came the snow which, after falling for about ah hour, gained the upper hand of the wet pavements and collected rapidly. At a late hour there "was a light covering of snow all over the town.
