FIRE GUARD REMOVED
FROM K,i>.V. BOX FACTORY Firemen were still using a hose at 10 o'clock last night on the smouldering ruins left by the fire at K.D.V. Boxes, Ltd., on Thursday evening, but since then this has not -been necessary. Five firemen were on duty at the devastated area until 5 p.m. yesterdav, after which three were left there until midnight, when the number was reduced to two. One man remained on duty this morning until the ruins had been inspected by a brigade officer and it wa? declared safe for him to be withdrawn. . Of the factory workers employed by K.D.V. Boxes, Ltd., 22 have been retained by the company to assist with demolition work, While most of the remaining 40 have been placed in new femployment, the majority with other box factories or builders.
