ALBINO UNDER CLOUD
TRENTHAM TRIP UNLIKELY The steeplechaser Albino, one of the early favourites for the Wellington Steeplechase, to be run at Trentham on July 7, is reported to be suffering from a poisoned leg and therefore an unlikely starter. In view of his excellent form at the Northern carnival, this six-year-old son of Te Monanui and Arden's Beauty is nicely treated in the big cross-country event at Trentham with 10.0 and his supporters will be unlucky if they don't get a run for their money. When racing at Ellerslie early this month. Albino was always prominent in the Great Northern Steeplechase, actually leading at the penultimate fence, but he was beaten into second place by Dauber in the run home. On the concluding day he was again in the limelight all the way in the Winter Steeples and fought out a keen struggle with Sir Percy and Dauber down the home stretch, only to be beaten in the last 20 yards. Sir Percy got the verdict by a neck from Dauber and Albino was a close third. Early in the season Albino won three hurdle races in succession, including one at Trentham with 10.13 in the saddle.
