SCHOOL PARTIES
WAITANGI TREATY HOUSE To enable parties of school children to visit Waitangi, accommodation for 40 persons is being'made available near the Treaty House Advice to this effect was received by the Auckland Education Board from the Education Department this morning. The Department stated that it had arranged with the Waitangi Trust Board to provide simple accommodation for parties of school children and their teachers. The Department would consider assisting towards the cost of transport, if application was made beforehand, to the extent of paying the balance after each child and teacher had paid the first 10/. The board decided to recommend that the information be published in the Education Gazette. "No doubt, it's a worthy object, but they've evidently had a permit to build this accommodation, and it's not as worthy as the urgent need for buildings at such schools as the Otahuhu Technical High School, for instance," said Mr. W. I. Bowyer.
