Air Chief-Marshal Sir Charles Burnett, K.C.8., C.8., 0.8. E., D.5.0., whose death after an illness is reported from London. A former Deputy Chief of Air Staff, Sir Charles was Inspector-General of the R.A.F. from 1939 to 1940. During two years in Australia, says The Times, London, he built the Royal Australian Air Force from a few planes and a handful of personnel into a powerful striking force, and helped to make Australia one of the world's major air training , centres.
