NAZIS SHOT PRISONERS
BRITISH OFFICIAL RECORDS Rec. 2.30 p.m. RUGBY, April 10. Asked in the House of Commons whether any cases were known of a German order to shoot parachutists having been carried out, the Minister of War, Sir James Grigg, said that details of such crimes were available. Strong protests had, of course, been made to the German Government. About August 20, last year, two men of a special air service regiment operating behind the enemy lines near Orleans were captured and executed at Challeurs aux Bois.
On or about July 3 one officer and one trooper of the same regiment were wounded and captured near Poitiers. The officer was killed by repeated blows on the head with a rifle butt and the trooper was severely beaten but survived. About June 6 and 7 British soldiers of a parachute regiment were taken prisoner and afterwards killed by German troops, while on July 5 two corporals and nine men of a special air service regiment were captured near Pans. On August 9 the two corporals and four of the men were taken by the Gestapo to a wood near Beauvais and were lined up to be shot. The two corporals "scaped but the four men were shot. -.—
