OBITUARY
MATRON MARY A. EARLY The death occurred at her home in Parnell Road, early this morning of Matron Mary A. Early, well-known to numbers of war veterans throughout New Zealand as matron of Aotea Convalescent Home near Cairo from 1915 to the end of the last war. For her work she received the decoration of Associate of the Red Cross Society. After the war Matron Early was prominent in the work of the Red Cross and the Overseas Club. Before the war she trained in the Wellington Hospital. A memorial service will be held at St. Mary's Cathedral on Friday at 9.30 a.m.
MRS. ELIZABETH EASTON At the age of 89, Mrs Elizabeth B. Easton, an early resident of Papakura, died recently at Nelson. Mrs. Easton was the only child born in New Zealand of a family of eight of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. Boult, of Norfolk, who arrived in Auckland in 1851. Apart from 18 months spent at Crystal Brook, South Australia, Mrs. Easton, who was a fine musician, spent her life in New Zealand and was married to the late Mr. L. D. Easton, who, at the time of his death in 1914, was practising as a solicitor at Motueka.
