DR. EDITH SUMMERSKILL
"I found my family very well, though the children had grown tremendously," states an extract from a letter received by Miss M. G. Havelaar, Dominion president of the National Council of Women, from Dr. Edith Summerskill, who recently visited New Zealand as a member of the British Parliamentary delegation. "My own house has so far been free from the visitations of the enemy, but unfortunately my surgery recently received a direct hit and was completely demolished, the caretaker and her husband both losing their lives," Dr. Summerskill writes. "Naturally there was a larger number of patients the next morning, but I was able to set up a temporary surgery with the aid of A.R.P. services within a few hours. "However, I feel that peace cannot now be long delayed, and I am looking forward with confidence to the way in which women all over the world will see that our'post-war plans are fulfilled.".
