FOR WOMEN MARRIED TO-DAY
EWEN—HOLMDEN BRIDE WEARS IVORY SATIN At St. Mark's Church this afternoon the marriage took place of Anna Patricia, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Trevor Holmden, Patey Street, Remuera, to Major John Mcintosh Ewen, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Ewen, Remuera Road. Archdeacon Houghton officiated. The bride was given away by her father. She wore a lovely gown of old ivory satin plainly cut with a V shaped neckline. The only trimming was a little niching on the long bodice, which had sunray pin tucks at the back. Tight three-quarter length sleeves were worn, and 1 the full skirt fell into a long train. Her tulle veil was caught to the head with a round bandeau of crystal and pearls, which had been worn by her grandmother. A beautiful bouquet of cream roses and gardenias was carried. The two bridesmaids, Miss Anne Ewen, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Nora Bayly (Bay of Islands), were dressed alike in palest eau de nil organza over satin of the same colour. Their frocks were fashioned on similar lines to the bride's and they wore small organza hats with bows under the brims. Their bouquets were of green Christmas roses and lemon coloured gerberas. The best man was Second-Lieutenant Keith Wilson and the groomsman was Major John Rutherfurd. Following the ceremony a reception was held at "California," the home of the bride's parents. Mrs. Holmden received her guests wearing a squashed strawberry ensemble with petunia hat and shoulder spray. She was assisted by Mrs. Ewen, who wore forest green with a green hat trimmed with Burgundy ospreys, and carried a bouquet of crimson roses.
