WINNERS BY DEFAULTER

It took Defaulter a long time to get on the winning list as a sire, but he has come into prominence lately, and the two winners by him which scored at Riccarton on Saturday, Rahiri and Derene, bring his number of individual winners for the season to six, the others being Deprive, Riverview, Double Cross and Centime. Rahiri is a half-brother to the disappointing Old Glory, a highly-tried horse which has been a comparative failure on the racecourse except for a single win over hurdles at New Year. Rahiri is raced by Mr. F. C. Christie, Christchurch, who gave Old Glory best some time ago. Derene, which'won the two-year-old handicap at her third start in public, is a filly from Citoyenne, by Chief Ruler or Robespierre from Dame Winkie, dam also of Lady Pym, whose family includes First Consul, Roeon and Killeymoon.
