BRIGHT REVUE
* "STARS THAT SHINE" Bright sketches, tuneful melodies, attractive dancing and novel specialty numbers give a pleasing variety of fare, with a-seasonal dish in the form of a "potted pantomime," in the revue "Stars That Shine," presented to an appreciative audience in His Majesty's Theatre on Saturday evening. Greatest hit of the evening was the pianoforte playing of Ossie Cheeseman. His "Warsaw Concerto" was brilliant In execution, and left the audience clamouring for more, a demand, however, which had to go unsatisfied in order to run the programme to schedule. Ten-year-old Leigh Brewer made an instant appeal with her singing and dancing, and another juvenile performer. Beverley Ramsay aged eight, graefully piroutted on roller skates. Jack McCarthy and Gwen Turtley were heard in song scenes, their rendering of "Miserere," from "II Trovatore," being especially pleasing. Ralph Dver a member of the Pacific Kiwi Concert Party, was warmly applauded for his clever female impersonations. A remarkable acrobatic contortionist dance was given by Heather Wright, and George and Barbara demonstrated the wonderful properties of their magic kettle, to the delight of the audience. A dance number by Bryan McConnell, songs by Neville O'Neill, comedy by Ties. Beattie, and stories by Dan Flood, who also acted as compere, were other features of the wellbalanced programme.
