RATIONING BREACH
On two charges alleging breaches of the Rationing Emergency Regular tions, Nelson Arthur Cary Creed, a farmer, appeared on summons before Mr. J. H. Luxford, S.M., in -the Police Court yesterday afternoon. While defendant, for whom Mr. King appeared, admitted a charge of supplying a rationed commodity without coupons, he denied a charge of trading without a license.
Sergeant Bennett, who prosecuted, said that when an inspector called at Creed's farm on August 19 he found two and a half sides of freshly killed lamb. Defendant admitted to the inspector that he had been killing three sheep a week. Evidence was given by Inspector E. J. Bourdot, of the Food Control Department. Mr. King submitted legal argument on the definition of a trader under the regulations, and held that the first charge must be dismissed. The magistrate dismissed this charge, but on the other he imposed a fine of £30 and costs.
