LOWER INTEREST RATES

LOANS TO EX-SERVICEMEN

(By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. "The matter of interest rates charged on loans to ex-servicemen has been under consideration by the Government for some time, and I can definitely say at this stage that the Government does intend to reduce those rates," said the Minister of .Rehabilitation, Mr. Skinner, in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon. He was replying to a question by Mr. - McCombs (Govt., Lyttelton) during consideration of the estimates for the Rehabilitation Department. Mr. Skinner added that just what the new rates would be he could not say at the present time, but a statement on the subject would be made in a very short timQ, setting out details.

The vote was put through without further discussion, the Minister of Finance, Mr. Nash, in reply to Mr. Poison (Nat., Stratford) stating that the Rehabilitation Bill would be coming before the House, and members would then have a greater opportunity of doing justice to a discussion of rehabilitation policy and administration.
