LUCK IN LOTTERIES
WHANGAREI EPIDEMIC (0.C.) WHANGAREI, Saturday. The gods of fortune and coincidence have turned welcome attentions on Whangarei residents in full measure, and their bounty has not been passing or parsimonious. This week a prize of £2000 has been won by a Whangarei retailer, an event in itself, but stranger than fiction is the fact that he purchased the winning ticket from another 'Whangarei shopkeeper occupying premises in the same block, who himself recently won a prize of £1250. Second place in the scheme of the gods was the winning of an art union yesterday by the mother of the baby who, in winning the title of Whangarei district patriotic baby in a successful- competition to raise the district's patriotic quota, also won first prize of £100 war loan bond.
Another Whangarei resident also has cause to wear a satisfied smile. He is the holder of a ticket which already assures him a considerable return on his investment and holds promise of winning a fortune in two months' time.
