MT. ALBERT'S LEAD

SUBURBS DItAW WITH METRO Winning its match against Comrades in the Auckland Football Association's medal round on Saturday, Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys went into the leading position with six competition points. Naval Depot, which was on level terms with Mount Albert, has a match to play against Ardmore in the series. Having drawn with Eastern Suburbs, Metro-College shares second place with the Depot side. The principal attraction at Blandford Park was the meeting of Metro and Suburbs. Metro disappointed by failing to reach the same standard by which it won the season's championship, and Suburbs managed to draw in a game in which each scored two goals. Webber notched both for Metro and Welch took the double for Suburbs. By the slenderest margin possible the only goal scored, Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys downed Comrades in the curtainraiser at Blandford Park. The match was well fought throughout, but in general it was devoid of any bright play. Beating Ponsonby by four goals to nil, North Shore registered its first win in the medal round. Ponsonby was several men short, with the result that Shore had the better of play all the way. The fixture between Naval Depot and Ardmore is expected to be played during the week.
