OBITUARY

MR. JOHN WILLIAM JOXES Formerly superintendent at the Victoria battery of the Martha Gold Mining .Company (Waihi), Limited, Mr. John William Jones, of Waikino, died recently at tne age of 57. Mr. Jones was born in a siaie mining village in North "Wales and was educated at Bangor University College, completing his training in electrical engineering at Leeds. During the erection of the hydro-electrical plant at vk Omanawa Falls station, Mr. Jones, was appointed engineer-in-charge. Inlozo ne accepted a position with the Waihi L-oia Mining Company, which was* later reorganised as the Martha Company. -~»« Mr. Jones was president of the Waucanj Welsh Society, and a member of tne Ancient Order of Druids and the Masonic fraternity. He is survived by his wife, one daughter and two sons.
