TAKAPUNA ELECTION
For the information of your correspondent "Sympathiser," who asserted that Labour supporters saw to it that some of their party were included in the Citizens' "ticket," and in order that your readers may not be misled, I would like to say that the Takapuna Citizens' Progressive Association is absolutely non-political and membership is open to any reputable citizen of the borough. The candidates were not required to take any pledge, but the association had their assurance that they were free to approach the council table with open minds and to vote according to the dictates of their individual consciences. All the Citizens' candidates for election to the council were successful and, although it must be obvious that they had many good Labour supporters, it so happens that the association executive is as certain as anybody could be under the circumstances that not one of the candidates is bound by pledges, nor will any accept domination from any political party. C. V. HOLYOAKE, President Takapuna Citizens' Progressive Association.
