The idea that the Japanese was a superman had been destroyed, said Admiral W. F. Halsey, U.S.N., in a farewell broadcast last night following his brief visit to the Dominion. Admiral Halsey spoke glowingly of New Zealand's war effort. As members of the South Pacific team, he stated, New Zealanders had done more than their share in throwing the Japanese out of their positions in the islands.

New Zealand's heritage as a nation was inseparably bound with that of the United States, Admiral Halsey said.
