CLUB ACTIVITIES

ANNUAL MEETINGS At the eighth annual meeting of Takapuna Club a record number of members was present. The president's report covered fully the activities of the club during the past year and the financial statement disclosed a substantial balance, the clubrooms and contents being free of debt. Most credit for this sound position is due to members of the Thrift Club and social committees for their foresight and energy. Poppy Day collection was a record one, the total being £208 1/7. Membership stands at 2."4 and is increasing weekly, a gratifying feature being the influx of so many Second N.Z.E.F. men. During the evening a presentation was made to Mr. H. W. Thomas for six years of valued service as honorary secretary. The president was re-elected for his fifth term of office, a fitting tribute to his efforts on behalf of the club and Diggers in general.

' The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr. H. T. Morton, M.P.; president, Mr. S. D. Eade; vice-presidents, Messrs. AV. Young and H. W. Thomas; hon. secretary, Mr. S. James; hon. treasurer, Mr. C. Vaughan; librarian, Mr. P. Lamb; steward, Mr. P. Brady; chaplains, Rev. Bailey and Rev. Emmett; committee. Messrs. H. Golder, W. Morris, F. Brady, E. F. Wordsworth, C. Knight, W. Aitken, S. V. Holyoake. GREY LYNN There was a record attendance at the annual general meeting of the above club when Mr. E. Rea, president, was presented with a life membership gold badge for his untiring work on behalf of the club for the past seven or eight years.

The club has a very healthy bank balance of over £1000. The president made special reference to the wonderful work of the ladies who raised about £250 for the children's Christmas party and on Poppy Day collected £262 18/. The elections of officers resulted:— Patron, Mr. A. Humphries; president, Mr. E.' Rea; vice-presidents, Messrs. W. Madigan and N. Boucher; secretary, Mr. R. Page; treasurer, Mr. W. Tichner; committee, Messrs. Kirkham, Mooney, Spencer, Andreson, Wheeler, Skinner, Tittleton, Dimmock, Davies, Chitty and McGregor.
