FIRM FINED £20

PRICE OF SUGAR BAGS Charged with selling two dozen second-hand sugar bags at 6/ a dozen instead of 4/ a dozen, the price fixed by the Price Tribunal, McKendrick Bros, wore yesterday fined £20 by Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court. On a second charge of not having the price order exhibited the firm was fined £2 10/. The sale of the bags was not denied, but B. J. McKendrick, managing-director, said the sale had been made by an employee who had no authority to sell, and, in fact, instructions had been given that the bags were not to be sold. The firm paid 4/ a dozen for the bags and had turned and processed them. Mr. Cleal appeared for the prosecution and Mr. Terry for the defendant firm..
