WOUNDED GENERAL
REPORTED IN ENGLAND (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. Major-Genei'al H. K. Kippenberger, D.S.O. and bar, who was recently wounded in Italy, has been flown to England and his wounds have healed, according to advice received by his relatives. General Kippenberger's request to remain on active service has been accepted.
It is a fortnight since it was reported that General Kippenberger, Commander of the Second New Zealand Division in action in Italy, had been seriously wounded as a result of stepping on what was believed to have been an enemy anti-personnel box mine. He was descending a rocky slope after viewing the battle area when a violent explosion threw him several yards. One foot was severed and the other so severely shattered that it had to be amputated.
