GALATEA ISOLATED
SETTLERS SUFFER AGAIX (0.C.) WHAKATANE, this day. Galatea, which suffered as a result of heavy flooding about a fortnight ago, has again been isolated. Telephone communications have been interrupted, and a temporary bridge erected after the last flooding has been washed away, making road communication impossible. Access to the town is now possible only by boat..
The Rangitaiki Plains have been flooded in some areas, but the situation is not yet reported to he serious. It is reported that one farmer, who lost all his seed in the iccent flooding, and since then had planted about £500 worth of seed, again suffered a total loss.
