BURSARIES EXTENDED

(By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. An announcement that it has been decided to amend the secondary school bursary regulations, 1943, to allow the award of a bursary to a pupil attending a non-State school approved for accrediting purposes by the New Zealand University has been made by the Minister of Education, Air. Mason. The boarding allowance of 7/G a week, which in the past has been available only to pupils attending State schools, will also be extended to qualified pupils attending non-State schools where there is no school of any sort available within convenient reach of the child's home.
