INCREASED COSTS

GOODS FROM U.S.A.

Because of the increased prices which it is claimed have to be paid for many imported goods following upon the switching of the sources of supply from Britain to U.S.A., the Auckland Chamber of Commerce has forwarded to Mr. F. Picot, Commissioner of Supply, instances where goods may be imported from Britain at less cost than from America, and has invited Mr. Picot to come to Auckland and discuss the matter with the executive of the chamber.

The Commissioner has replied that while he would be pleased to meet the chamber's executive he does not anticipate a prompt visit to Auckland, but Mr. Bromley, one of his officers, will be in Auckland and will meet members of the chamber if desired.
