FINANCE AMENDMENT
EXPENDITURE PROVISION (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. To provide against the possibility of Parliament not being called together for the main session until ; after June next, a short amendment of the Finance Act was introduced by Governor-General's Message in the House of Representatives last night, extending beyond the usual period of three months following the conclusion of the financial year, the authorisation of expenditure under the Public Revenues Act and the National Development Loans Act. The acting-Minister of Finance, Mr. Sullivan, stated that there were iseveral precedents for the measure
when the Prime Minister was absent from New Zealand. In this instance it was to cover the probability of the Prime Minister. Mr. Fraser, being I away to attend an Imperial Con- ' ference. The bill was read the first time.
