SANCTIONS ON EIRE

Mr. Churchill Declines To Be

Drawn BELFAST MEMBER'S QUESTION Rec. 10.30 a.m. LONDON, Mar. 15. Mr. Churchill declined to amplify his statement of Tuesday when asked by Professor Savory (Con., Belfast University) in the House of Commons to-day whether, in view of the refusal of Eire to remove Axis representatives, the Government proposed to apply economic sanctions against Eire. Professor Savory later gave notice that he would raise the whole question on the adjournment. A message from Capetown says that Dr. D. F. Malan, Leader of the Nationalist party, cabled to Mr. de Valera associating the official Opposition and a very large section of South African citizens with Mr. de Valera's efforts to maintain Eire's neutrality. He wished Mr. de Valera all success in resisting aggression in whatever form, it might take.
