NIMITZ HONOURED

CONGRESS MEDAL AWARDED

Rec. 11 a.m. WASHINGTON, Mar. 15

Nimitz, commander of the Allied naval forces in the Pacific, for achievements as Commander-in-Chief of the Pacific Fleet. It was explained that, although the law authorises President Roosevelt to confer such an award, it was felt that, because of Admiral Nimitz s brilliant leadership, the award should be made by act of Congress.
