NIMITZ HONOURED
CONGRESS MEDAL AWARDED
Rec. 11 a.m. WASHINGTON, Mar. 15
Without objection the House has agreed to confer the Distinguished Service Medal on Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, commander of the Allied naval forces in the Pacific, for achievements as Commander-in-Chief of the Pacific Fleet. It was explained that, although the law authorises President Roosevelt to confer such an award, it was felt that, because of Admiral Nimitz s brilliant leadership, the award should be made by act of Congress.
