MECHANICAL COW
ADVANTAGES STRESSED (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary P.epcrter.) WELLINGTON, this day. The merits of the mechanical cow —a contrivance for producing milk from milk powder, water and sweet butter—were stressed by Miss Howard (Govt. Christchureh East) in the Address-in-Reply debate in the House of Representatives yesterday atfernoon. She felt that the invention meant, a great future for New Zealand dehydrated milk. The mechanical cow was born and raised in America, and was being used all over the world where it was impossible for a live cow to exist. The Japanese had found some of these strange looking machines on Pacific islands they had invaded, and, suspecting them of being bombs, had destroyed them. By so doing they destroyed their only opportunity of securing fresh milk. Miss Howard informed the House that a Christchureh firm was Avilling to import mechanical cows, and she was willing to go through New Zealand emphasising their advantages. She hoped to be able to bring one to Parliament Buildings and demonstrate to members just what a fine food it produced.
