SHIP NOT WORKED
MEAT MEAL ISSUE
WATERS II) E RS' STAND
As they were unable to obtain a full meat meal at Chelsea without surrendering coupons, four gangs of waterside workers refused to work the 6 o'clock to 9 o'clock shift on a ship at the sugar works last night. A representative of the shipping company stated that the food controllers in Auckland and Wellington had been approached with regard to meat meals for waterside workers engaged at Chelsea, and it had been pointed out that if the men were working anywhere else than at Chelsea they would still have to produce a coupon for a meat meal.
